A Revolutionary Espresso ...

Gaggia Milano is one of the most iconic Italian brands, which revolutionized the way we brew espresso. Way back in 1938, Achille Gaggia, the founder of Gaggia Milano developed a system to control the coffee extraction process with high precision, no longer using steam. It has since become the hallmark of Quality Italian espresso, characterized by the ever-so-notable soft layer of marvelous “crema naturale”. Further, thanks to tireless effort towards development, this espresso culture spread in coffee bars around the world really quickly. At present, the company, in sync with its unique history and values, offers a wide range of automatic and traditional coffee machines for both commercial or home use. It combines state-of-the-art technology, sophisticated design, and professional details to satisfy the needs of all espresso lovers. Now available in South Africa, celebrate the art of brewing a great cuppa coffee with Gaggia!

As its name suggests, the Gaggia Classic is one of the original home espresso machines. Gaggia was one of the first companies in the world to put their expertise in espresso to putting commercial-grade espresso equipment in the hands of a home barista for an affordable price. Gaggia produced their first home espresso machine in 1977 and has been a leader in the home espresso space ever since.

With their 45+ years of experience, Gaggia's newest machine for the home consumer is the Gaggia Classic Pro. Making its debut in 2019, nearly 3 decades after the original Classic was introduced, the Gaggia Classic Pro is the successor to what is considered by many to be the best entry-level espresso machine of all time. The machine comes with both a pressurized portafilter basket and an authentic, non-pressurized portafilter basket. For beginner espresso users that don't have a grinder but still want good quality espresso-style drinks, a pressurized portafilter is a great option. Having said that, the Gaggia classic pro really begins to shine when you brew with the non-pressurized baskets. Espresso brewed with freshly ground coffee really does make an incredible difference. This variety in the Gaggia Classic Pro makes it a perfect beginner machine; it will give you a great beginner foundation with lots of room to grow your skills as a home barista.

With many subtle improvements, the now 100% Italian made Classic Pro doesn't change what it doesn't need to; it features the same rapid heating boiler, 3-way solenoid valve, and 58 mm commercial chrome-plated brass portafilter as before. Something that has changed is the new commercial style steam wand. This highly requested feature helps the Classic Pro punch well above its weight class, and is capable of producing rich, velvety milk foam, perfect for latte art.

More nuanced updates include the change from a single control panel to distinct and dedicated rocker switches for power, brew, and steam. The housing of the Classic Pro has also been refined. Indents in the frame make it easier to remove the water reservoir, while the drip tray has been streamlined with rounded edges that accentuate the contours of the machine. The decompression duct has also received a rubber grip for safer and easier removal. Internally, the brew boiler still features embedded heating elements and is ready to brew in an impressive 5 minutes. Switching to steam takes another sixty seconds, and a quick flush brings you right back to brew temperature. Brewing on the Classic Pro is even quieter than before thanks to improvements to the pump mounting that reduce noise while operating.

The Gaggia Classic Pro offers the entire home espresso experience, from authentic espresso to the high-grade steam wand the Gaggia Classic Pro will produce creamy and delicious flat-whites and cappuccinos or simply rich and intense espresso, all in the comfort of your own home or office. It's a robust machine, made from brushed stainless steel that is built to last. Its simple design looks great and is incredibly easy to use. It also comes with commercial-grade, chrome-plated brass portafilters (industry-standard in cafes around the world).

Gaggia home espresso machines also have an enormous global community of users that love these machines. From user tips and advice to mods and upgrades, there is a world of Gaggia to get involved in! Whether you want a simple easy to use machine or you are a coffee-curious home barista who wants to go down the rabbit hole of espresso-making, the Gaggia Classic Pro is versatile enough to suit just about anyone anyone, from beginner to advanced!

The Gaggia MD15 Electric Home Coffee Grinder is our most affordable electric grinder. It uses a stainless steel conical burr set to produce and well distributed, adjustable grind. With 15 grind settings, this grinder can handle everything from French press to stovetop espresso; it even works with the Gaggia Classic Pro's pressurised portafilters.

It's well built with a robust stainless steel housing and is versatile, affordable, and easy to use.

    Gaggia classic Pro

I'm very happy with my Gaggia combo I was conserned that the MD 15 grinder will not grind fine enough to my surprise I was proven wrong

The extraction from the Gaggia is absolutely amazing and definitely a huge upgrade from my previous machine.

If you love coffee this is definitely a must buy

    Impressive

4 weeks now and really impressed with this Gaggia combo. Do take the grinder shim mod to make finer espresso ground. The Classic Pro is simple to operate with the switch system and nothing more is needed. It gets up to temp quickly (about 1 or 2 minutes) in the time it takes to grind and stamp. I suggest getting the Pro stamper as the one with the machine is shitty plastic. The Classic Pro does seem to get very hot if left on so I try to remember to turn it off again. Height below the group-head is low'sh but fits a normal coffee cup but not a mug; You can however slide out the drip tray to fit a big mug easily if needed. Comparing to the Breville BS870 Bean-to-cup: The Gaggia MD15 grinder and the Classic Pro machine are both much quieter than the Breville 870. The Breville wastes much more water so the drip tray fills in a days use (say 8 to 10 espressos) where the Classic Pro drip tray hardly needs to be emptied, maybe 20% full. NB: After two new 870 machines in 4 years, the Breville has reliability issues. The group-head seals tear in 6 to 9 months and need to be replaced and the boiler on both new units blew after 2 years use of say 7 to 10 espresso’s per day. Hence the move to Gaggia Classic Pro and MD15 that as combo is similar priced; At the price I am happy with the purchase of the Gaggia Classic Pro and MD15 grinder and am hoping they last a lot longer than the Breville(s). Special mention that Zaakir from Latte Art was super knowledgable, friendly and attentive when buying the unit and when I needed to do the mods : )
